Dear ROWVA Families,
Beginning February 3, students, parents, and teachers across Illinois will have the opportunity to participate in the Illinois 5Essentials Survey: Organizing Schools for Improvement. This survey gives families a meaningful way to share feedback about their experience at ROWVA JH/HS School and helps us better understand what is working well and where we can continue to grow.
The Illinois 5Essentials Survey is administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago on behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education. It focuses on five key areas that research shows are closely connected to student success, including improved attendance and stronger academic outcomes.
Those five areas are:
• Effective Leaders
• Collaborative Teachers
• Involved Families
• Supportive Environments
• Ambitious Instruction
Schools that are strong in these areas are far more likely to see meaningful gains in student learning, which is why your voice is so important in this process.
School-level results are generated when at least 20% of families participate. If that threshold is met, reports will be shared with schools and districts in June and later included in each school’s official Illinois School Report Card. These reports are also made publicly available through the UChicago Impact website. The data shared is always presented in summary form, and all responses are completely confidential. Individual students, parents, or families are never identified, and responses cannot be traced back to you or your child.
Your feedback helps guide our planning, reflection, and improvement efforts. Whether it’s affirming what we’re doing well or helping us see where we can do better, your input truly matters. The Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be open February 3 through March 13, 2026.
Parents, please use the following link to access the survey:

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective and for your continued partnership with ROWVA Schools.
Sincerely,
Ben Rees
